Remember the Journey

Shay and Stattyn had the opportunity to go on our Ward Trek. Shay was not so excited about this she hates to camp and she was not at all excited for this day. Stattyn on the other hand was so thrilled that they allowed him to go. Usually you can only go if you are in mutual. This means you have to be 12 yrs old. But this year they decided to take anybody who would turn 12 this yr. so he just barely made it and he was excited..They walked 30 miles in 4 days dressed in pioneer clothes. They divided all the youth into 7 families with a Ma and Pa that were the older youth. They had brother s and Sisters. Then they had Uncles and Aunts that were the leaders in the mutual and other people from our ward. The theme for this trek was "Remember the Journey" There is a song named this and they learned it while there. When the returned home they both sang this song to me and I could feel the spirit so strong as they sang this song..I was on the hunt for this cd.. I heard stories for hours from each of them and the great experiences they had. I am so glad they were able to go and have a good attitude and experience..We have some pretty amazing leaders in our ward who did an excellent job with planning it. The kids were a little worried about what they would eat. They found out before they left they were having oatmeal one morning so Stattyn said Mom on my medical slip will you please put I'm allergic to oatmeal..it was funny but I finally asked what else they were having and found out they would have Muffins and Fruit to go along with it so he would be ok.. They ate better then we ate at home I think. Shay got a bloody nose every night she was there but she still absolutely loved it. To hear them come back and say it really wasn't that bad and we want to go again was great!! They were sunburned and tired but they both had so much Fun!!
